EXPEDITIONS
GOAL: An expedition led by Dr. Tarkovsky ventures into the taiga to learn about the meteorite and its impact on the land. Itching for adventure, heroes from the war privately fund their own expeditions to Siberia, hoping to find artifacts, overcome challenges, and ultimately achieve glory.
GAMEPLAY: Play cards to gain power, guile, and unique worker abilities; move your mech to mysterious locations and gain cards found among the tiles; use workers, items, meteorites, and quests to enhance your mech; and use power and guile to vanquish corruption.
SOLO PLAY: Features an Automa to play against in a single player game for a fun solitaire experience. The Automa simulates an opponent for you to compete against, while your game as a player remains the same. On the Automa’s turn, flip a card to see what action it takes.
STRAIGHT FORWARD ACTIONS: Easy to teach and learn with some prior board game knowledge. Get started quickly after watching a short rules video. Many different paths to victory.
ALTERNATE WORLD EXPLORATIONS: Richly developed alternate reality with interesting and beautiful 1920+ artwork done by Jakub Rozalski (Iron Harvest). Game design by Jamey Stegmaier (Viticulture).
THEMATICALLY DESIGNED MECHANISMS: The mech designs fit the nature of their abilities - Marsh Strider has long legs and can move farther than other mechs, and Odin’s Wrath which looks similar to a Viking ship has an additional exploring bonus. The search for and melding of meteorites give you enhanced benefits that might be explained by the sci-fi nature of the meteorites. Each game, the tiles are placed into a random map allowing you to explore your surroundings in different ways every time, giving you the feeling of following rumors or leads.
SEQUEL TO SCYTHE: This sequel to Scythe sends players on a new adventure into Siberia, where a massive meteorite crashed near the Tunguska River, awakening ancient corruption. It is not necessary to have played Scythe before playing Expeditions, as this is an entirely new game set in the same world.
